Hello! I’m Mike Noreen.

In 2006, I started Burning River Farm after working at Foxtail Farm in Oscoela WI for several season. Paul and Chris, the Foxtail Farmers, helped start Burning River Farm with the use of land and equipment to get things off and running. Things have been running ever since.

Now located in Frederic WI, I’ve found a place where it is challenging to grow vegetables. And those challenges often make the vegetables taste great!

Every year I hire a crew and we work together on all things farming. Using chemical free methods, we grow nutritious, clean vegetables for our customers. We go above and beyond USDA Organic. Not only are we chemical free, but we use an extensive rotation based on cover crops, use no plastic mulch (a mainstay in much Organic growing) and go to length to reduce inputs and waste.

I believe in participating an a food system that puts people, our health and nature first. Are we perfect? Nope. But each season, myself and the farm crew work towards using increasingly better methods to grow food for you. Stop by one of our markets and see for yourself!
