Frightful and Delightful-So long farm friend

It feels like the end of an era on the farm. 2 weeks ago, Ava, the ever protective, ever loving (all at once frightful and delightful) farm dog passed on from here. She was along in her years, so it’s not unexpected. But a the same time, I thought we’d have one more summer and maybe a winter of her most notable farm dog presence.

I can say that I think there were years where Ava was the glue that held the farm together. As if, no matter what happened anywhere else over the course of the season, the one thing everyone could agree on was that they loved Ava. Or after a particularly difficult day and the crew came in feeling like none of this makes sense, there was Ava to make sense of it all.

Thank you Ava! It’s too strange that you are just gone, so I am imagining that you have your teeth sunk deeply into the tail of a comet for an unending tour of the universe, or rolling on your back in an astral plane field of grass and sunshine. That seems only right.
